Compound DrugsILWU-PMA Coastwise Indemnity Plan Compounding Drug Portion of the Prescription Drug Program Effective August 22, 2016, the Prescription Drug Program under the ILWU-PMA Coastwise Indemnity Plan covers compounded drugs that in addition to other Plan terms, are dispensed by an OptumRx Credentialed Pharmacy. A listing of OptumRx Credentialed Pharmacies can be found at the OptumRx Compound Pharmacy Locator Guide. More information on this topic, including a list of exclusions, can be found in the Memo to Ports of July 19, 2016. What is a compound drug? Compound drugs require a prescription from a doctor and are prepared by a pharmacist who mixes or adjusts drug ingredients to customize a medication to meet a patient’s individual needs. Due to concerns about member safety and drug effectiveness the requirements listed above are being implemented. OptumRx Credentialed Pharmacy If your current compound pharmacy is not on the Credentialed Pharmacy Listing, your compound prescription will not be covered. Please talk to your physician and transfer your prescription to a credentialed pharmacy. You may find a list of the credentialed pharmacies in the OptumRx Compound Pharmacy Locator Guide. You may not see a pharmacy listed near you (or even in your state of residence), however the credentialed pharmacies listed are licensed to dispense and ship compound medications to you. Please note the list is subject to change. |
