Employees, Retirees and Survivors who are located in a Choice Area are allowed to change their plan choice during Open Enrollment in May for coverage effective the following July 1st. In addition, plan choice can be changed one other time during a Plan Year (July 1 - June 30).
Newly registered Active employees who are located in a Choice Area must be enrolled under the HMO plan for the period of 24 months following the date of registration. After the initial period of 24 months and regular Welfare Plan eligibility requirements are met, Active employees who are located in a Choice Area will be given the choice of the HMO Plan or the Coastwise Indemnity Plan.
